Most companies will only need to have one tier of timesheet approval – meaning that only one User is required to do the final approval.

 

However, if you require 2 tiers of approval, you will need to enable it here –

 

 

Once that has been activated, you will then have the option to give every User the correct timesheet approval permission –

 

 

 Here are the various approval options and what they mean:

1. 

 

With this setting, the User can do the 1st tier of approval, but not the final approval.

Nor can they unapprove their timesheets to make any subsequent adjustments.

It would require someone with unapprove permission to unapprove the timesheet for them.

This turns the timesheet a peach shade.

 

2.

With this setting, the User can do the 1st tier of approval as above.

However, they will also be able to unapprove the timesheets as they will see the unapprove tool - A screenshot of a phone

With this setting, the User can do the final approval regardless of whether the 1st tier has been done. However, they can’t unapprove their timesheets to make any subsequent adjustments. It would require someone with unapprove permission to unapprove the timesheet for them. This turns the timesheet blue. 

 

 

4. 

 

With this setting, the User cannot do either tier of approval. But they can unapprove timesheets if they need to.

 

5. 

 

With this setting, the User has unlimited permissions to approve and unapprove any timesheet they have access to. The approval will default to the final one and turn the timesheet blue.

 

 

6. 


 

This setting will not allow any tier of approval as the 1st tier must be allowed first.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Allowing “Can Unapprove Hours” means the User can unapprove any tier of approval on all timesheets they have access to for the entire history. Currently, there are no time or date restrictions on when timesheets can be unapproved when someone has this permission.


NOTE: Any timesheets only partially approved will trigger this pop-up when running the payroll report or export -


However, this will not prevent the data from being reported on or exported.
